According to ESPN salary expert Bobby Marks, NBA team executives believe that Morant's trade value may be equivalent to when Kyrie Irving left the Nets.
The original text reads: "A team executive interviewed by ESPN mentioned the deal to trade Irving from the Nets to the Mavericks in 2023. In that transaction, the Nets received Spencer Dinwiddie, Finney Smith, an unprotected first-round pick in 2029 and two second-round picks, and traded Irving and Morris to the Mavericks."
"The main difference is: Irving was 31 years old when he was traded, and his contract is about to expire. Morant is just 26 years old this year, and he still has two years of contract after this season. Another important point is that unlike Jimmy Butler's situation last season, Morant did not ask to be traded. Although he was suspended for one game, the Grizzlies are still trying to adapt to Isalo's system."
