Recently, Wade was interviewed by TMZ and talked about his mother.

Jolinda Wade was arrested in 1994 for possession of powerful cocaine. She allegedly served a sentence ranging from nine to 14 months before entering the job release program. While participating in the program, Jolinda ran away, lived as a fugitive for several years, eventually surrendering herself and serving her sentence. It has been decades since Wade's mother was in jail, but he revealed that he still retains all the notes his mother wrote to him in prison, and he still reads them to this day.

He said, "She is the best pen pal I have ever had. You know, even though she is not around, there is still a connection between us, a connection that lingers in my mind. We still share the little things in life, right? So for me, she is always there. And I know she will come out, so I just want to support her as much as I can. I still have those letters, so sometimes I will go back and read, you know, want to see wherever you go in life, you have to go back. You know, you have to look at it and cherish the present."
