The BBC reported that David Beckham will be awarded the knighthood of the Knighthood on King Charles' birthday award list.

The 50-year-old former England football captain was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003. But BBC Sports was told that he will receive further recognition due to his football career and contribution to British society, and the list of winners will be announced next week.

Beckham has played for Manchester United, Los Angeles Galaxy, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan, and retired in 2013. Beckham was reportedly nominated for Jazz for the first time in 2011. In 2017, several British newspapers published details of leaked emails, in which Beckham criticized the Honors System and the Honors Committee. A Beckham spokesman said at the time that the emails were "tampered with by hackers."

Beckham played a key role in the 2012 London Olympics and served as ambassador to UNICEF and the King's Foundation.
