AC Milan new aid Derwent was interviewed and talked about his feelings after joining Milan, future goals and views on his teammates.
Milan paid 20 million euros for you?
"If you look at the transfer fees in recent years, I think Milan made a good deal from Genoa."
Teammate De Cattrale said in an interview, "In Milan, people expect you to perform immediately." Currently you often come off the bench, does this put pressure on you?
"Now that I am a substitute option, I am not in a position to make demands on Allegri. I am very strict with myself and I have the ambition to become the main player. I need to stay humble and the rewards will come at some point."
Are you immediately excited about this move?
"We are talking about Milan, one of the biggest clubs in Europe. I watched Ronaldinho play here as a child. My family is not crazy about football and we don't have pay TV to follow foreign leagues, but of course I often see Milan in the Champions League. That Milan makes you dream, with Ronaldinho, Pato and Beckham. That aura is still there."
Do you have any other choice? I heard that Inter Milan also tried
"When Milan comes knocking, you don't have any hesitation. But it is true that some other big Italian clubs (including Naples), as well as some English clubs have inquired about my situation. There are even very generous offers from the Middle East."
Since you play for Milan, can you still go out calmly now?
"Italian fans are very passionate in the stadium. I like the aggressive atmosphere, but they don't bother you off the pitch. The only person in the team who would cause chaos when going to the restaurant is Modric. But then again, when you are so strong, this is normal."
You were teammates with Ronaldo at Juventus. Do you think Modric is even better than him?
"It's difficult to compare, they are different types of players, both extraordinary. But I have to say, Modric really impressed me. First of all, his intelligence, the way he sees the game is different, he is faster. And then he has a pair of magic feet.
Even in Off the field, he is excellent, humble and never puts himself above others, yet he has an incredible record of honors, a Ballon d'Or and six Champions League trophies and he never complains, even when he needs to run, then who else has any right to complain?"
