According to previous reports, a Madrid court has made a verdict on four people for hate crimes and threats against Vinicius before a 2023 Cup derby.
In response to this, Real Madrid officially issued a statement:
Real Madrid Football Club announced that the 23rd Division of the Madrid Court issued a verdict today, convicting four radical fans. The four fans hung a black inflatable figure wearing a Vinicius jersey on a bridge near Real Madrid Sports City in the early morning of January 25-26, 2023, hours before Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid's quarter-finals in the Spanish Cup del Rey quarter-finals, and simulated hang them.
The defendant also showed a large banner on the spot, publicly expressing his hatred for Real Madrid Club. One of them also spread their behavior through social media.
The defendant has admitted the facts, expressed regret and publicly apologized. Each of them was convicted of one hate crime and one threatening crime against Vinicius, a player on the team. The court sentenced one of the defendants to one year and ten months in prison, and the other three each were imprisoned for one year and two months.
The defendant must also pay the fine imposed; shall not engage in professions related to education and sports within three years; shall be prohibited from approaching Vinicius within four years and shall not contact him in any way.
In addition, during this period, they are not allowed to enter or approach any football field where sporting events are held and must complete a training program on equal treatment and non-discrimination.
The criminal judgment is another ruling against racist insults against Real Madrid players in recent months, and has previously made multiple judgments on events that occurred at Sorilla Stadium (Valladolid), Mestalia Stadium (Valencia), Thornemois Stadium (Mallorca) and Vallecas Stadium (Vallecano) and even on digital forums. So far, the total number of people criminally convicted of racist attacks on Real Madrid players has reached 14.
Real Madrid, together with its players, exercised its right of private prosecution in this case and in many cases currently under trial, and will continue to work to defend the values of the club and eradicate any racist behavior in the football and sports world.
