Rumors that Son Heung-min may join AC Milan on loan during the winter MLS offseason are intensifying, a move similar to Beckham's brief stay with Milan in 2009 and 2010. A few days ago, Son Heung-min's South Korean national team teammate and forward Wu Xiankui, who currently plays for Genk, confirmed in an exclusive interview with reporter Alessandro Schiavone that this possibility does exist.
■There are recent rumors that Son Heung-min may join Milan on loan. As a teammate of the national team, can you confirm this news?
Wu Xiankui said: "I can confirm, but in the end it depends on his own decision. Everything is possible."
■ Sun Xingmin's form declined in Tottenham's late period. Is he still capable of competing in Serie A?
"Of course! His ability is still top-notch. I believe he can establish himself in a big club like Milan, or go elsewhere. He will decide whether to join Milan during the MLS offseason."
■How is he doing in the United States?
"Brother Sun told me that life in Los Angeles is great! I want to go too, it is a place I have never been to. His goal is to continue playing in Los Angeles in the next World Cup."
■What does Son Heung-min mean to you?
"He is my idol! I watched all his games when I was young. He is the captain of our national team, and I hope to follow in his footsteps."
■ Some people say that Son Heung-min is like 'Elvis Presley' in South Korea, a national superstar.
"Is it me or him? (Laughs) Everyone knows him, no matter where he goes, people recognize him. It is not easy for him to live in Korea."
■What are your future goals?
"My dream is to join a really big club one day. But now my focus is still on Genk. I hit the post against Betis. I was very upset. I should have scored that goal."
■ Looking forward to the World Cup, after 24 years, can South Korea reach the semi-finals again?
"That is our dream. Our performance in the world preliminaries is very good. We have played well against Paraguay recently, and the game against Brazil will also help us grow. We are ready."
