Tebas criticizes Club World Cup: disrupting normal schedules, generous bonuses intensify competition inequality in league

La Liga President Tebas criticized the Club World Cup in an interview with Kobe Radio, saying that such events not only affect players' rest, but also exacerbate the inequality in competition among national leagues.

"The new version of the Club World Cup has affected the ecosystem of leagues in various countries, especially the European League. In fact, we have sparked debate over when Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will start the league. The Club World Cup has disrupted our usual schedule and will cause damage in the medium and long term. These institutions only know to solve the problem by creating new events, new forms or adding teams to participate. Just like letting Saudi Arabia host the World Cup, it is simply nonsense."

Tebas also pointed out that the huge prize money of the Club World Cup (the prize pool exceeds 1 billion euros) makes the domestic league more unbalanced: "Because some teams earn more, others will be left far behind, which will distort the competition in the league. Ask most La Liga teams that don't have the opportunity to participate in the European game, the income gap has created, making the game less competitive."
