
Leverkusen officially released an obituary today, announcing the death of club legend Dieter Herzog.
In the official announcement, Leverkusen stated: "The club expresses condolences on the death of Dieter Herzog! 🙏He played for Leverkusen for 7 years. This member of the 1974 World Cup winning team passed away this week at the age of 79. "
Dieter Herzog played as a midfielder and played for Leverkusen from 1976 to 1983 and hung up his boots here, winning the 1974 World Cup with the West Germany team.
