San Siro will be demolished! Inter Milan s new stadium is expected to be completed in 2031, with a capacity of 71,000 people

Milan City Council approved late night the proposal to sell the San Siro Stadium to Inter Milan and AC Milan. After six years of repeated tug-of-war, complaints and proposals, the marathon-style meeting started at 4:30 pm and ended at 3:50 AM.

Inter Milan and AC Milan will acquire the stadium and surrounding areas for 197 million euros, and the city government promises to give a discount of 22 million euros. The resolution was passed with 24 votes in favor, 20 votes against and zero abstention.

The San Siro Stadium will be demolished by then. The new stadium is expected to be completed in 2031. It will be built in the parking lot area of ​​the existing stadium. It is designed by Foster and Manica Architects, and can accommodate 71,000 people. The original stadium will be temporarily retained for concerts and other events, and will be demolished between 2031 and 2032. About 90% of the buildings will be demolished, leaving only the towers in the southeast corner, some orange stands and south stands.
